Foursquare business analytics

Foursquare will give 900 businesses access to a new set of analytics tools over the next few weeks, the NYT’s Nick Bilton reports.

The new tools give business owners a detailed look at the check-in activity of their customers. In addition to tracking who is checking in when, businesses will be able to set up promotional offers instantly from Foursquare’s website.

Last week, Google continued its frenzied buying spree by acquiring Picnik, a Flash-based site that lets you edit photos in the cloud, without even signing up for an account.

Picnik had roughly 20 employees, and a few million monthly users. While there has been no word on the purchase price, this surely isn’t much of a risk for Google.

YouTube is running Project: Report in partnership with the Pulitzer Center. Of these 10 semi-finalists, 5 will receive $10,000 grants for international journalism projects with Pulitzer.

New York Times Gothamist

It seems the New York Times and Gothamist have reunited, on the business side.

In early February, the two news organizations got into an online battle in which Gothamist publisher and co-founder Jake Dobkin blasted the New York Times for “sucking on the teat of some old rich guy (or heir).”
